Frost Damage

In the past few days, we have been receiving telephone calls from current and prospective clients regarding their Japanese maple trees.

Frost Damage - The hard frost plays havoc with the trees. The foliage on these trees will look wilted and soggy at first, and then become dry and fall to the ground.

Usually, the tree will start to re-bud in a few days and no treatment is necessary. If you feel it is necessary to give your tree a boost, use a slow release fertilizer with a no salt content. If you are not sure what fertilizer to use, give us a call and we will help you out.

These trees, while delicate, are usually able to re-cover from frost damage and are not sick – they do not have a terrible disease (usually).

Take a walk out to your tree and see if it is re-budding, if it is not give us a call and we will come check it out for you.
